Overview
Amy is a part-qualified UK and European patent attorney working in the Physics and Hi-Tech team at Barker Brettell. She has experience working with and advising a wide range of clients including individuals, universities, SMEs and global corporations.
Before joining Barker Brettell, Amy graduated from the University of Nottingham obtaining a first-class master’s degree in Physics. During her degree, Amy undertook a research project on electrospray ionisation and electrospray emitters for use in mass spectrometry and thin film atom deposition, as well as a computational research project exploring galaxy cluster formation and evolution using data collected from the Dark Energy Survey.
Experience
- Prosecutes patent applications at the UKIPO and EPO and prosecutes global patent portfolios in collaboration with agents across other jurisdictions. She routinely deals with inventive step and excluded subject-matter for computer implemented inventions at the UKIPO and EPO.
- Experience in drafting patent applications in the fields of AI and machine learning technology, fintech, blockchain, network security, and cryptography.
- Experience in providing freedom to operate opinions, non-infringement and validity opinions.
